Abstract:

Based on the even clustering protocol, the energy efficiencies of the single-hop and multi-hop communicationmodels are analyzed in the presence of multiple local clusters, and the corresponding algorithms to calculatethe optimal cluster head number are presented. Moreover,by taking into consideration the nonuniform energy consumptioncaused by a single routing mode,a hybrid communication model is established, which combines the single-hop and the multi-hop modes with a certain time-component in the presence of multiple local clusters. Simulatedresults indicate that the proposed hybrid communication mode with time-component outperforms the single-hopand the multi-hop ones in terms of energy efficiency and energy consumption uniformity.
