Abstract: In this paper three-dimensional finite element analysis is carried out for dynamic soil-structure interaction of a practical building with additional viscoelastic dampers. General purpose finite element program ANSYS is used in the analysis. A commonly used equivalent linearity model is chosen as the constitutive relation of soil. Viscousspring boundary of soil is implemented. The influence of parameters such as damping coefficient of viscoelastic dampers, soil property and foundation types on efficiency of viscoelastic dampers is discussed. The analytical results indicate that the influence of SSI effects on efficient of viscoelastic dampers increases at first and then decreases with the rise of the damping coefficient of viscoelastic dampers; the efficient of viscoelastic dampers increases in general with the increment of the dynamic shear modulus of soil; the efficient of viscoelastic dampers on pile-raft foundation structure is better than that on box foundation structure.
