Experimental Prediction of Fatigue Life for RC Beam Strengthened with CFL

Abstract:

Fatigue tests for 23 RC beams(1 850 mm×1 00 mnl×200 mm)strengthened with carbon fiber laminates (CFLs)under the bending loads divided to 5 groups were carried out.The relationships among the mid-span deflection,the fatigue cycle,the fatigue loading level and the fatigue life were then investigated,and a set of linear expressions were obtained.Based on these linear expressions,a new experimental method is developed to predict
the fatigue life of RC beam strengthened with CFL,that is,to predict the fatigue life by loading the RC beam with some circulatory nondestructive loads under a appointed fatigue loading level,with a recommended cyclic number of 10 ~l 000.
