Abstract:

Activated carbons were prepared from carbonized coconut shell by the K2CO3 chemical activation in different operating conditions. The effects of agent/carbon ratio, activation temperature and time on the yields, the meth) lene blue adsorption and the phenol adsorption of activated carbons were then experimentally investigated. The results show that the mass ratio of agent to carbon and the activation temperature are the most important factors
to influence the preparation of activated carbons.Considering the effects of activation parameters on the yield and adsorption properties of activated carbons in experimental conditions, the optimal operating condition is:2:1 of the mass ratio of agent to carbon,800 ℃ of activation temperature and 120 min of activation time.
