Abstract: Titanium dioxide(TiO2) photocatalysts have been deposited on quartz sands by microwave radiation So-l Gel method. The influencing factors on sol quality including different heating-up method‚ microwave power and microwave reaction temperature have been investigated. The particle size in the sol prepared by microwave radiation is smaller than the one by normal heating-up method. The appropriate microwave reaction conditions are the microwave power of 600W and90℃.Phenol is regarded as the photodegradation reactant and the photocatalysed performances of two photocatalysts prepared by two different methods have been investigated .The results indicate that the photocatalysed performance of TiO2 photocatalysts prepared by microwave radiation So-l Gel method is better than the one prepared by conventional So-l Gel method.

Key words: titanium dioxide, microwave, So-l Gel method, photocatalysis
