Abstract:

The traditional routing protocols of Ad hoc networks use the minimum hop count as the routing metric, which brings some nodes to premature death. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a novel energy-efficient on-demand routing protocol based on the AODV protocol. The protocol takes into consideration the remaining energy of the nodes in the stage of routing discovery, uses the energy of the bottleneck node and the mean remaining energy of the path as the routing metrics, and chooses the path with enough collectivity energy to eliminate the influence of the bottleneck node with lower remaining energy.Simulated results demonstrate that the presented protocol is feasible because it helps to protect the nodes with low energy, prolong the service time and the network lifetime, achieve the equilibrium of energy consumption in the network, and increase the average packet delivery ratio.
