    As the conventional FFT-based extraction algorithm of vital signals for the through-wall detection radar(TWDR) is insufficient in handling non-stationary signals and is sensitive to respiration harmonic interference,a novel method to extract vital signals is proposed based on the empirical mode decomposition(EMD).In this method,the vital signal accepted by the radar is decomposed into several intrinsic mode functions(IMFs) via the EMD,and the IMF components describing the structural characteristics of the vital signal are used to reconstruct respiration and heartbeat signals in the time domain.Simulated results indicate that the proposed method helps to extract heartbeat signals with high accuracy because it effectively eliminates the interference of respiration harmonics.

    For motion-related brain-computer interfaces(BCIs),some artifacts may be imported due to the setting of unnecessary electrodes,which is unfavorable to the feature extraction and classification.In order to solve this problem,an electrode selection method based on the common spatial pattern(CSP) and the binary particle swarm optimization(BPSO) is proposed,which extracts features with high discriminant ability and limits the number of electrodes at the same time.Moreover,in order to accelerate the convergence of BPSO,the generation probability of initial electrode combinations is adjusted according to the weights of CSP filters.Experimental results show that high classification accuracies can be achieved only with few electrodes.

    In order to obtain bandpass filters with high selectivity,small size,low loss and low cost,a compact source-load coupling filter with four transmission zero points is presented,which uses a half-wavelength multi-mode T-shaped resonator to reduce the filter size and to facilitate the bandwidth design.Then,based on the generation mechanism of transmission zero points,a controllable coupled element is inserted in the region between the input and the output ports to generate multiple paths for signal transmission.Thus,four controllable zero points independent of bandwidth and central efficiency are generated.Moreover,a compact microstrip bandpass filter with four transmission zero points is designed and fabricated,with the insertion loss and the bandwidth respectively reaching 1.4 dB and 10%.Finally,the filter is tested and the results accord well with the simulated ones.It is thus concluded that the proposed design method is feasible.

    In order to improve the performances of planar power-combining amplifiers,a power-combining amplifier based on the double-layer planar circuit is designed,which employs a double-layer planar power divider/combiner to improve the integration degree,introduces a right-angle microstrip bend to place the amplifiers and their biasing elements on the sides of the input-output axis to make enough room,and locates the amplifiers on the two sides of the input-output axis for heat dissipation.Afterwards,a four-path power divider and a four-element power-combining amplifier are designed,fabricated and tested.The results show that the proposed power-combining amplifier is of a small-signal gain of 10~16 dB over a wide bandwidth of 2.0~4.5 GHz,a saturated output power of 25.9 dBm at 3 GHz and a power-combining efficiency of 81%.It is thus concluded that the proposed design method is feasible.

    In order to establish a suitable model to describe the leakage region of circuit simulators,the leakage generation mechanism of polysilicon thin-film transistors is investigated in terms of current,activation energy and low-frequency noise,etc.Then,based on different leakage mechanisms,some approximations of the generation-recombination model are proposed,and a unified leakage current model suitable for the electric field of 1×106~5×108 V/m is deduced.Moreover,the activation energy models for low and moderate electric fields are derived,and a compact model for low-frequency leakage current noise is put forward.Comparisons between the simulated and the experimental results show that the proposed models are all effective and suitable for circuit simulators.

    In order to reduce the feedback bits of MIMO-OFDM preprocessing systems,a new limited feedback preprocessing scheme,which includes downlink quantified power distribution coefficients and quantified diversity weight vectors,is proposed based on the spatial diversity of MIMO-OFDM systems.In this scheme,the power distribution of sub-carriers is uniformly quantified by the receiver with a low complexity and the preprocessing diversity vectors are quantified via joint interpolation optimization.Then,the limited bits of quantified power distribution and vector information are fed back to the transmitter,and the quantitative information obtained from the feedback is used by the transmitter to restore the preprocessed power allocation and vector through interpolation.Simulated results show that the proposed scheme considerably improves the BER(Bit Error Rate) performance of the system.

    As the traditional medium access control(MAC) protocols allow only one pair of nodes to communicate in a neighborhood of distributed single-channel Ad hoc networks,serious collision,low throughput and large delay may occur in this kind of network.In order to solve these problems,a novel MAC protocol based on the multi-packet reception(MPR) of multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) system is proposed.In this protocol,both the binary-backoff and the share-backoff mechanisms are used to reserve and share the physical channels,thus realizing the multipoint-to-point communication in distributed single-channel Ad hoc networks and significantly improving the network throughput.A mathematical model of the normalized saturation throughput is also established for the new protocol.Theoretical and simulated results indicate that the proposed protocol outperforms the CSMA/CA(k) protocol based on the Bell Laboratories layered space-time(BLAST) coding in terms of network throughput.

    The traditional routing protocols of Ad hoc networks use the minimum hop count as the routing metric,which brings some nodes to premature death.In order to solve this problem,this paper proposes a novel energy-efficient on-demand routing protocol based on the AODV protocol.The protocol takes into consideration the remaining energy of the nodes in the stage of routing discovery,uses the energy of the bottleneck node and the mean remaining energy of the path as the routing metrics,and chooses the path with enough collectivity energy to eliminate the influence of the bottleneck node with lower remaining energy.Simulated results demonstrate that the presented protocol is feasible because it helps to protect the nodes with low energy,prolong the service time and the network lifetime,achieve the equilibrium of energy consumption in the network,and increase the average packet delivery ratio.

    This paper considers the flow control of IEEE 802.16 wireless Mesh networks in different channel conditions and proposes a flow control method with maximized aggregated utility based on the cooperative game theory of Nash bargaining solution(NBS).In this method,the NBS mechanism is combined with the adaptive modulation and coding technology for the end-to-end service flow in IEEE 802.16 wireless Mesh networks,and a control mecha-nism for the service flow rate of source nodes is presented.Simulated results show that the proposed method maintains a good balance between the profit of users and the fairness among service flows,and that it maximizes the aggregated utility of the whole network.

    The existing study of double space-time transmission diversity(DSTTD) system is mainly based on perfect channel estimation.However,in an actual channel estimation,error always exists.In order to reveal the influence of channel estimation error on the performance of DSTTD system,a method based on the existence of an assumed error matrix is proposed.Analytical results indicate that the interference matrix in decision statistics is the main factor influencing the system performance,and that independent and identically-distributed channels are more resistant to estimation bias than the correlated fading channels with the same estimation error.Simulated results show that the system performance affected by the error matrixes of different channel estimations in various scenarios is similar to that in actual situations.Thus,it is concluded that the proposed analysis method based on error matrix is valid and reasonable.

    In order to evaluate the performance of IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function(DCF) with unsaturated traffic,the procedure of DCF backoff and the queuing buffer of media access control(MAC) layer are modeled,and a model based on closed queuing networks is established.Then,the expressions describing the transmission rate and the throughput under unsaturated traffic load are deduced by employing the proposed model,and the effects of the terminal number,the traffic load and the package size on the network performance are analyzed.Simulated results show that the proposed model can effectively evaluate the unsaturated performance of DCF.

    As the existing static bandwidth allocation algorithms cannot effectively utilize the limited bandwidth in networked motion control systems based on CAN,two dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithms based on feedback control are proposed.In these algorithms,bandwidth is reasonably allocated in accordance with the actual network state and control requirements through adjusting the sampling period.Moreover,as the wide fluctuation of sampling period may result in system instability and excessive resource consumption,three typical sampling periods are preset to realize the bandwidth allocation by switching.Simulated results show that the proposed dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm is superior to the fixed one.

    Proposed in this paper is a sub-pixel algorithm based on phase correlation and image resampling for high-accuracy image registration.In this algorithm,first,a pixel-level coarse location is realized using the conventional phase correlation method.Then,a fine step is performed,using the matrix multiplication discrete Fourier transform(DFT) to calculate the resampling region around the coarse point and to further locate the resampling region at a pixel level based on the phase correlation.Moreover,the accuracy equivalence between the matrix multiplication DFT and the zero-padding resampling is proved in detail.Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is superior to the conventional cross-correlation-based and phase-correlation-based sub-pixel registration algorithms in terms of accuracy,efficiency and noise resistance.

    Proposed in this paper is a novel method of character segmentation for offline unconstrained handwritten Chinese text lines.In this method,first,a series of curved candidate segmentation paths are generated via a pre-segmentation algorithm.Then,the recognition information of isolated characters and the geometric information of text lines are integrated by using two modified quadratic discriminant functions,from which the confidence of the segmentation hypothesis is obtained.Moreover,the optimal segmentation hypothesis is searched by employing a dynamic programming algorithm.Finally,the proposed method is tested using 383 text lines in the HIT-MW database without the help of any language models.The segmentation accuracy reaches 89.70%,which means that the proposed method is effective.

    By analyzing the visual behavior and psychological perception of drivers under high-speed driving conditions,the sampling test of the viaduct section of freeway in the Pearl River Delta was implemented with the help of Car Camera Equidistant Automatic Shutter System.Then,the spatial interface enclosure and its distribution proportion of drivers' visual space were calculated and analyzed according to the photos continuously taken by an automatic control system.The results show that the visual-spatial environment of drivers is characterized mostly by open and empty features.Based on the above-mentioned details,some landscape improvement essentials for the empty space of elevated bridges are presented to avoid the adverse psychological perception for people driving on the viaduct.

    In order to overcome the limitations of traditional pavement design and evaluation methods,a reverse design method of asphalt pavement is put forward based on the concept of reverse engineering technology,and the cor-responding design process is presented.In the investigation,first,the characteristics of the initial pavement are analyzed,and the whole process,including the material preparation,the core scan and analysis as well as the pavement remolding in laboratory,is described in detail.Then,the designed pavement is tested on a new-pattern pavement material ALF(accelerated loading facility) tester to measure the surface skid resistance at different cycles.Moreover,the similarity principle is introduced to compare the remolded pavement and the original one,with high similarity being obtained,which proves the feasibility,reasonability and reliability of the design method.It is also found that the entropy of skid resistance of the pavement increases after the surface treatment,which means that the pavement maintenance tends to unify the subsystems and stabilize the function of the whole structure.

    As there is no generally accepted and reasonable index to evaluate the low-temperature performance of asphalts and asphalt mixtures at present,this paper introduces the glass transition temperature for the evaluation.In the proposed method,first,dynamic frequency sweep tests are performed using dynamic shear rheometer AR-2000 in the linear visco-elastic range for different asphalts and asphalt mixtures.Then,the glass transition temperatures of different asphalts and asphalt mixtures are obtained by analyzing the sweep test results based on the time-tempera-ture superposition principle,and the results are further verified by the low-temperature bend creep test of asphalt mixtures.The results show that,with a clear physical meaning,the glass transition temperature obtained by dynamic frequency sweep tests accords well with the practical one;and that the glass transition temperatures of asphalts and asphalt mixtures have good relation to the low-temperature bend broken strain of asphalt mixtures.It is thus concluded that the glass transition temperature is suitable for evaluating the low-temperature performance of asphalts and asphalt mixtures.

    The analysis of travel behaviors of evacuees is an important premise of the exact estimation of network clearance time,and it is also an important issue in emergency evacuation.This paper aims at the household gathe-ring behaviors of evacuees and establishes a location-choosing model for household gathering based on the linear programming modeling,with "Morakot" typhoon disaster as the emergency background.By introducing the priority factors of household members,the model gives humanistic considerations to the vulnerable household during the evacuation,and describes the travel characteristics of emergency evacuation by minimizing the total travel time of household members for gathering and the waiting time among gathering groups.Moreover,with the help of Matlab and Starlogo,the effects of household gathering behaviors on the total network clearance time in under-saturated,saturated and over-saturated scenarios are respectively simulated and compared.The results present that household gathering behaviors will lead to an increase of about 15% to the total network clearance time estimation.

    Parking reservation is an advanced function in the parking guidance and information system.In order to ensure the fairness and balance of parking demands in different time sections,this paper introduces the concept of revenue management in the parking reservation system and proposes a fuzzy logic-based real-time decision-making method.Based on the optimal reservation decision made by the solution of the model under the ideal condition,a fuzzy rule set is generated,and an online decision of whether to accept a reservation requisition is made with the help of the fuzzy logic.The proposed method is simple and convenient.It helps to deal with the parking reservation rapidly and ensure applicants to complete their parking within a reserved time period,with the parking revenue being also maximized.

    In order to provide "high quality" optimal path for the user of navigation systems,a mathematical model of the optimal path with multiple quality constraints is proposed.Then,to solve this model,local pheromone update rules and global update rules of the ant colony algorithm are re-designed,a pheromone update operator is introduced to increase the pheromone on the optimal path dynamically,and a heuristic factor of visibility is improved.As a result,an improved ant colony algorithm is generated.Simulated results demonstrate that the improved ant colony algorithm is of good optimization ability and rapid convergence,and that it helps to accurately find the optimal path meeting multiple quality constraints in the road network.

    In this paper,the open or restricted water under the slamming by a flat-bottom structure is taken as the research object,and a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) technique is used to investigate the 3D hydrodynamic characteristics of the water.The investigation is conducted by using the volume of fluid(VOF) method and the dynamic mesh method,with the factors of open or restricted boundary conditions being considered.Moreover,the phenomena of multiple pressure peak values observed during the slamming simulation are analyzed,and the corresponding generation mechanisms are discussed.The comparison between the simulated and the experimental results indicate that the proposed numerical method helps to analyze the hydrodynamic characteristics reasonably,and that it can effectively simulate the wave-making and underwater pressure distribution variation agitated by the slamming of the flat-bottom structure on the open or restricted water with free surface.

    In recent years,the upstream Longtan Reservoir in Xijiang watershed is used to regulate the downstream Wuzhou flow in dry season for the purpose of saltwater suppression.This method has proved to be an important engineering measure to ensure the fresh water supply in the Pearl River Estuary area in dry season.In this paper,the reservoir discharge and the interval watershed runoff process between Longtan and Wuzhou are considered together as a whole and the rainfall-runoff of the non-controlled interval basin is modeled by using the digital watershed mo-del.Then,numerical experiments are carried out to analyze the response of Wuzhou flow rate to Longtan discharge affected by the watershed runoff process.The results show that(1) as a major component of Wuzhou flow in dry season,Longtan reservior discharge is linear to Wuzhou flow rate;(2) the lowest discharges for saltwater suppre-ssion are respectively 600 m3/s and 800 m3/s in dry years and bias-special dry years;(3) the flow response patterns of Wuzhou flow rate are related to the upstream discharge scale as well as to its changes over time;and(4) large discharge with rapid change may result in short response time.

    In order to optimize the transmission power and efficiency of the rail-type contactless power transfer(CPT) system,a new method is proposed based on the impendence character.Then,the relationships between the transmission power and such parameters as the equivalent reluctance of the magnetic core,the operation frequency of the system as well as the number of primary and the secondary coils are analyzed.Moreover,an optimized design procedure of the rail-type CPT system is presented according to the practical requirement of power transmission,which implements the optimal control of power transmission by optimizing the input voltage and the number of the primary and the secondary coils,and increases the system efficiency as high as possible.Experimental results show that the proposed method is theoretically valid and practically feasible.

    In order to avoid the local extrema of binary particle swarm optimization(BPSO),a new algorithm,namely Chaos Niche Binary Particle Swarm Optimizer(CNBPSO),is proposed by introducing chaotic parameters and the Niche technique in the velocity updating formula of particle swarm optimization(PSO) algorithm.Then,CNBPSO is used to solve two ILS problems with different complexities,and the results are compared with those obtained by BPSO.It is found that CNBPSO is superior to BPSO due to its simplicity,fast speed and equilibrium convergence.

    With the development of the electric power system reform and the electricity market,a completely-open electricity market will be gradually established corresponding to the opening of the demand side.In this paper,by introducing the cost matrix of the generator and the expected pay vector of the purchaser,a bilateral trading mechanism involving a number of market participators is established based on the Nash equilibrium theory,and the genetic algorithm with strong global search ability is employed to solve the model.Simulated results show that the proposed model is practical and feasible,and that it helps to find the Nash equilibrium strategy combination with the smallest total cost,thus maximizing the benefit of each market participator.It is also indicated that the proposed strategy well reflects the effect of bidding strategies of the generator on the electricity market.

    As the conventional optimization algorithms of power flow cannot meet the requirements of real-time scheduling of power system with complex and nonlinear descriptional multi-objective optimal power flow(OPF),this paper presents a multi-step Q(λ) learning algorithm based on the semi-Markov decision process.This algorithm,independent of any accurate model,converts the constraints,actions and targets of the optimal power flow to the status,actions and rewards of the algorithm,and dynamically finds the optimal action by continuous fault testing,retrospecting and iteration.By comparing comparison of the proposed algorithm with other algorithms in several IEEE standard examples,it is found that the Q(λ) learning algorithm is feasible and effective in dealing with multi-objective OPF problems.

    In order to coordinate various control methods of AC/DC power systems and reduce the operation cost in steady state,a mathematical model is established to calculate the optimal power flow of AC/DC power systems.The proposed model,which is characterized by its nonlinear mixed integer programming considers not only the discrete characteristics of transformers(including converter transformers) ratio but also the shunt capacitor switching susceptance.The model is then solved by using the nonlinear primal-dual interior-point algorithm incorporating a quadratic penalty function to deal with the discrete control variables.Moreover,the introducing occasion of the quadratic penalty function and the valuating strategy of the penalty factors during the iteration are discussed.Calculation instances of two AC/DC power systems with 11 buses and 39 buses show that both the proposed optimal model and the algorithm can reliably converge to the enforceable and economic operation mode of the system.

    In this paper,with the help of Fluent,the incineration blending wastewater sludge in a pulverized coal combustion boiler in an electric power plant in Guangdong is numerically simulated and analyzed,and the distributions of the velocity field and the temperature field are discussed.Simulated results show that,with the increase of wastewater sludge dosage,the highest temperature in the furnace is 80~160 K lower than that of single pulverized coal combustion,and the height corresponding to the highest temperature increases by 180~800 mm.Experimental results indicate that,when the moisture content of the sludge is lower than 20%,the proper dosage of blended sludge should be kept within 10%.
