Abstract:

Eight high-strength concrete columns with different decorative materials were tested following the ISO834 standard heating process, and the influence of decorative materials on the explosive spalling of concrete was discussed. Then, the internal temperature fields of the specimens were analyzed, and the results were finally compared with the measured ones. It is indicated that, with the addition of decorative materials, the explosive spalling of concrete delays but the spalling becomes more serious, that two-layer insulation plates significantly prevent high- strength concrete from explosive spalling, and that, by converting decorative materials into equivalent concrete, the influence of decorative materials on the temperature field in specimen section can be well revealed.
