Abstract:

In the conventional ethylene cryogenic separation process, the compression refrigeration system consumes a lot of cryogenic energy. In order to solve this problem, the cryogenic energy of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is applied to ethylene cryogenic separation process to reduce the compression refrigeration load. Experimental results of a ethylene cryogenic separation system with an annual output of 300kt/a indicate that the utilization rate of LNG cryogenic energy in the separation process reaches 76. 5%, and that LNG provides a cryogenic energy of 22472 kW, which results in a direct compression power saving of 11968 kW and greatly reduces the energy consumption of ethylene cryogenic separation process.
