Abstract:

In order to balance the load of the existing data convergecast protocols in wireless sensor networks, this paper proposes a novel load-balancing convergecast protocol (LBCP). LBCP constructs the Bluetooth scatternet branch based on the competition algorithm, and updates the load information with the method combining the "ondemand notice mechanism" with the "fault detection mechanism", thus overcoming the incapability of the conventional algorithms in adapting traffic change and reducing load-updating frequency. Simulated results indicate that, as compared with the conventional protocols, the proposed protocol is of higher data delivery ratio and stabler data transmission rate.
