Abstract:

Sodium alginate ( AlgNa) was purified via the acetone precipitation, and the product was tested by means of FT-IR and GPC. Then, the contants of residual protein in both the unpurified and the purified samples were measured, and several three-dimension porous calcium alginate scaffolds were fabricated through such three crosslinking systems as CaCl2-AlgNa,CaSO4 /GDL-AlgNa and Ca-EDTA/GDL-AlgNa. The results indicate that the
porous Ca-EDTA/GDL-AlgNa scaffold with a sodium alginate content of 2.5%~ 3.0% possesses uniform micropore distribution, large specific surface area and excellent mechanical behavior, which means that it is suitable for the cell culture in tissue engineering and cell engineering.
