Abstract:

In this paper , the effects of ionic strength of solution on the ion-exchange equilibria of taurine/OH - system on anion exchange resin D290 were investigated by means of static adsorption , and the equilibrium uptake isotherms of taurine on the alkali anion exchange resin were measured at different ionic strengths. The results show that , with the increase in ionic strength , the adsorbed amount of taurine on the resin D290 , the distribution coefficient λTau and the fraction of zwitterion Tau±all decrease , while the pH value of the solution at the equilibrium and the content of anionic taurine Tau - increase. Moreover , it is found that , at a certain taurine concentration , the increase in ionic strength may improve the selectivity of the anion resin for taurine.
