Abstract:

A fractal model is established to simulate the spatial structure of concrete slurry , and a formula that de-scribes the relationship among the fractal dimension D , the porosity P and the pore distribution is deduced. ßased on the proposed formula , a fractal dimension of concrete pore structure in the range of 0 to 3 is obtained , which in-creases with the decrease in porosity and with the widening in pore distribution. Moreover , a Mercury Intrusion Po-rosimeter (MIP) is used to determine the pore structure of ordinary Portland cement and to calculate the corre-sponding fractal dimension. The results indicate that the fractal dimension and the concrete strength are closely in-terrelated.
