Experimental Investigation into Velocity Field of Outdoor Unit of Air-Conditioner with Heat Pump

Abstract:

The air flow at the air inlet of the outdoor unit of an air conditioner with air-source heat pump is mea-sured using a h0t wire anemometer.The results indicate thai:the velocity profile through the heat transfer surface of the outdoor unit is varied:the maximHm velocity is about 4 times the minimum one.The overall heat tra'nsfer coem.cient is thus decreased by the non.uniformity of the velocity.Moreover,the air Iconditioner with a 2-tube-row tvpe
outdoor unit is better than that with a 3-tube-row type outdoor unit.In refrigeration condition,the former possesses an air flowrate increment of 23.1%,a condensing temperature reduction of 10.1℃ and a COP increnient of 26.7%,while in heating condition,the evaporating temperature and the heat pump coeficient res’pe ctively increase by 5.4℃ and 15.1%.and the possibility of frosting is reduced.
