Design of SMA-5 Asphalt Mixture for Thin Overlays

Abstract:

The modified Coarse Aggregate Void Filling method is adopted to design stone matrix asphalt SMA-5,with the whole design process and a corresponding modification equation being presented.Then,the performance of the designed SMA-5 asphalt mixture is tested.The results indicate that SMA-5 asphalt mixture is of good pavement performance and superficial performance,which makes it a suitable material for thin overlays in preventive maintenance,thus saving the construction time anti decreasing the cost.
