Abstract:

Acrylate reactive microgel latex with core-shell structure was synthesized by the semicontinuous and see.ded emulsion polymerization technology. The effects of polymerization conditions on the particle size and its distri.bution were then investigated. The structure and properties of the latex were finally characterized by using FTIR.TEM and rheometer. The results show that, with the increasing of the emulsifier content or the crosslinker content.the average particle size gradually decreases and its distribution becomes wide, and that the latex is of excellent properties when the emulsifier content or the crosslinker content is 3%~4% or 1% ~3% .Moreover.the particle size decreases and its distribution becomes narrow with the increase in the feed rate of the emulsified momomer, and 20~30 mL/h is the optimal value. The final results reveal that, when methacrylic acid(MMA)with optimal mass
fraction of 3% ~4% is added on the shell, the particle size of the latex increases and its distribution becorues nar.row at first, and then becomes wide.
