Abstract:

Studied in this paper are some changes of lethal rate, pigment content, protein content, total lipid content and scavenging activity on radicals of Chlamydomonas nivalis exposed to UV-B with diferent dosages. The resuits show that UV-B radiation is lethal for Chlamydomonas nivalis, and that the contents of chlorophyll, carotenoid and astaxanthin increase after the radiation. Moreover, the basic biochemical components of Chlamydomonas nivalu
obviously change after the UV-B radiation, that is,the protein content decreases, the total lipid content increases, and the scavenging activity on radicals of Chlamydomonas nivalis in organic solvent improves.

Key words: Chlamydomonas nivalis, UV—B radiation, biological effect, pigment content
