Open Modular Design Methodology of Plastic Injector for Enterprise·Cluster M anufacturing

Abstract:

This paper analyzes the characteristics of the enterprise-cluster manufacturing system and proposes an open modular product design methodology by dividing the producing technologies into technology cells and by selec-ting the most valuable technology module.In the proposed methodology ,a reasonable technology division is realized by the structure-mapping function based on technologies and by the technology cell clustering based on the design structure matrix(DSM).Moreover,the selection of a valuable technology module is implemented by the relational analysis of technology modules based on a quantified DSM (QDSM)and by the evaluation of the importance of technology modules.Thus,an open modular product design methodology is presented, which is finally applied to the design of a plastic injector with open modular structure f0r enterprise-cluster manufacturing.
