Abstract:

In order to obtain a water-borne polyurethane emulsion modified by acrylic ester and possessing ex-cellent performance and environmental advantages, toluene diisocyanate, polyether binary alcohol, dimethylol propionic acid(DMPA)and methacrylate were used as the main materials to prepare the water-borne Dolyure. thane/vinyl monomer prepolymer by means of emulsion polymerization in situ. Then,by adding the initiator to
the mixture,polyurethane-acrylate(PUA)hybrid emulsion was synthesized through free.radical emulsion poly.merization.Moreover,the factors to affect the performance of the hybrid emulsion were investigated. The resuhs indicate that the properties and appearance of the PUA hybrid emulsion are greatly relative to the—NCO/—OH ratio(mole ratio, below the salxle),the content of DMPA and the neutralization degree. When the—NCO/—OH ratio, the mass fraction of— COOH and the neutralization degree are respe ctivelv c0ntrolled at 1.3~1.4,about 2.6%and 90% ~100%,the prepared emulsion is of good appearance and excellent performanc
