Theoretical Analysis of the M ushrooming Deformation of Flattened Cylindrical Projectile

Abstract:

In order to investigate the coupling effect between the projectile deformation and the target,the mushroo-ming deformation of the projectile impacting on a deformable target was theoretiallly analyzed by taking into account the penetration of the projectile into the deformable target.A model of the mushrooming deformation was then estab-lished based on Taylor model,thus deriving the numerical solution to the model,the variations of the variables with time,the profile of the deformed projectile and the relation among the shape parameters,the duration time of de-formation,the impact velocity and the characteristics of the projectile and the target.It follows from the results that the proposed model can give more reasonable results which are more accordant with the test results
