Abstract: A new method to accurately and quantitatively study the chemical durability of glass was put forward.Induc-tion Couple Plasma (ICP) was adopted to the quantitative analysis of the relationship between the TeO 2 -ZnO glass system component and its corrosion period. The mechanism of the corrosion of TeO 2 -ZnO glass system in water was then discussed in the light of the structure theory and valence-bond theory of tellurite glass system. The result expresses that the process of erosion is that of continuity dissolution and the chemical durability is better when the mole ratio of the TeO 2 to ZnO is 3in the glass system.
