Abstract

Abstract: By studying the characteristics of the surface roughness differentiated by the eye and the digital image techniquea method of evaluating and measuring pavement surface texture depth utilizing digital image technique was presented．With this methodthe pavement surface roughness can be recorded by an ordinary digital cameraand the pavement texture depth can be obtained by the pixel analysis of recorded images．Compared with the conventional methodsthe method proposed here is simple and easy to apply．It is a promising method for evaluating and measuring the pavement surface performance with higher precision and lower cost．
