Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Sem- i rigid Guardrail under Impact Loading

Abstract: A model of sem- i rigid guardrails under impact loading was built by using LS-DYNA FEM (Finite Element Method) software.The loading-heading’s acceleration-time curves‚velocity-time curves and the guardrail’s total energy absorbing capacity were obtained and compared with experimental mea surements under impact.The results show that FEM is an effective way in the analysis of mechanical behavior of guardrails‚This research provides the base of the further investigation of energy absorption and optimization of structure design of guardrail system under impact loading.
