Abstract:

A novel sulfonylurea anion receptor, namely bis-( 4'-nitro phenyl) sulfonylurea, was synthesized andapplied to the naked-eye detection of anions by observing the color change of receptor solution after the addition ofanions, and obvious color change of the solution, namely F- -induced brown yellow or CH3CO2- -induced lightyellow, was observed. However, the color slightly changed when such other anions as NO3- ,Br- ,Cl- and HSO4- were introduced in the solution.Afterwards, the binding ability of the receptor with mono-anions was tested bymeans of UV-vis spectrophotometry titration method, with rather strong affinity of sulfonylurea to F- and CH3CO2-being revealed. Jobs plot indicates that the receptor and F- groups form a kind of complex with 1:2 stoichiometry. Moreover, the UV absorption spectra of methanol for the complex confirm that the receptor binds with anions withthe help of hydrogen bond.
