Preparation of Electrochromic Polythiophene and Fabrication of Corresponding Solid-State Electrochromic Device

Abstract:

Polythiophene was prepared via the electropolymerization of 2,2'∶ 5',2″-terthiophene ( 3T) ,and the electrochromic behaviors of polythiophene film were investigated,revealing a reversible color change from orange yellow to navy blue for the film with applied voltage in liquid electrolyte. Moreover,a solid-state electrochromic indium tin oxide ( ITO) /polythiophene/conducting gel/ITO device was fabricated,with polythiophene as the active electrochromic layer,and a similar color change was also observed for the device with applied voltage.
