Application Performance-Based Design of Epoxy Asphalt Concrete Applied to Steel Bridge Deck Pavement

Abstract:

In order to solve the problems existing in the application of epoxy asphalt concrete to steel bridge deck pavement,the shortcomings of the existing design theories and methods are analyzed,and the improved CAVF method is used to increase the skid resistance of the concrete. Then,based on the fracture mechanics and the energy method,the impact toughness is proposed as an evaluation index of the fatigue properties of epoxy asphalt concrete,and the residual stiffness modulus ratio is employed to reflect the fatigue properties. Moreover,the relationship between the
impact toughness and the residual stiffness modulus ratio is revealed by tests. The results show that the skid resistance of the epoxy asphalt concrete designed by the CAVF method significantly improves,that there exists a good linear relation between the impact toughness and the fatigue properties,and that the impact toughness can be used to effectively evaluate the fatigue properties of epoxy asphalt concrete.
