Mechanical Properties of Stirrups Confinement Concrete- Filled Round- Ended Steel Tubular Stub Short Columns Under Axial Compression

Abstract:

In order to improve the mechanical properties of confinement concrete- filled round- ended steel tubular (CFRT) stub columns,this paper adopts the way of welding stirrups to enhance the constraint effect on core con- crete.Then,the ABAQUS software is employed to analyze the finite element parameters of the 3D solid of stirrups confinement concrete- filled round- ended steel tubular (SCFRT) stub columns in four constraint ways,and the way of bidirectional butt joint stirrups is found to be the best.Finally,two sets of CFRT stub columns and two sets of SCFRT stub columns are investigated by experiments.It is found that the experimental results accord well with the simulation ones,which demonstrates that the way of bidirectional butt joint stirrups is rational.
