A New Type of Cycloid Double-Enveloping Meshing Pair

Abstract:

Proposed in this paper is a new type of cycloid double-enveloping meshing pair that consists of cycloid gear and enveloped internal gear. In the investigation,first,the tooth profile equations of the cycloid gear and the internal gear were proposed,and the integrative curvature radii of two types of contact points in the meshing pair were compared with each other. Then,a prototype of a new gear transmission that takes the proposed meshing pair as the main transmission part was trial-produced to meet the requirements of the driving system of a satellite-pointing mechanism,and the corresponding technical specifications,such as the transmission accuracy,the torsional stiffness and the output torque,were tested. The results show that the new type of gear transmission is of high transmission accuracy,low backlash and high torsional stiffness,etc.
