Abstract:

As for the waveguide power divider, an important component in microwave and millimeter wave systems, its traditional matching structure is difficult to realize at W band due to the machining difficulties. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes an arc structure via the finite element method based on the weak form of Helmhohz equation. As the radius of the arc structure is that of the milling cutter, the structure contour matches well with the outer fringe of milling cutter and can be easily manufactured with a common milling machine, thus effectively reducing the manufacture cost. Moreover, a H-plane waveguide power divider and an E-plane one are designed using two pairs of arcs and three pairs of arcs, respectively. It is proved that the proposed design method is of engineering applicability because the calculated scattering parameters accord well with the experimental ones.
