Abstract:

Based on the experimental results of prestressed high-strength concrete (PHC) pipe piles subjected to lateral loads in the deep soft soil foundation of Zhuhai free trade zone , the lateral bearing behaviors of the piles are discussed. The results show that the piles with high slendemess ratio can effectively bear the lateral loads , that the underside of the long elastic pile can be considered as a socking into the soil without rotation , the crescent resistance moment and the lateral soil pressure bearing the crescent lateral load , that the bearing capacity of the long elastic pile is mainly affected by the upside soil , and that the calculated proportional coefficient m describing the lateral resistance of foundation can be used as a reference for the design of the similar engineering. Moreover , according to the simulated results of the lateral bearing capability of PHC pipe piles via the finite element code ABAQUS , the high accuracy of the proposed method is finally revealed.
