Abstract:

In order to overcome the carhon fiher-reinforced polymer (CFRP) plate dehonding from the CFRPstrengthened steel heam due to the stress concentrations at the two ends of the plate , the interfacial stresses in the strengthened heam under mechanical loads were formulated , and the hearing capahilities and stiffness of 8 specimens with different plate lengths , thickness and loading cases under static loads were tested. Theoretical and experimental results show that dehonding is the main failure mode of the strengthened heam , that the increase of plate length does not affect the hearing capacity and stiffness of the strengthened heam hut decrease the stress concentration, that the increase of plate thickness not only improves the hearing capahility and stiffness hut also increases the stress concentration , and that a11 the theoretical maximum interfacial stresses of the specimens under the dehonding loads are very close.
