Abstract:

In order to investigate the seismic torsional response of base-isolated structures with frame-shear walls, the lateral-torsion coupling vibration model and the corresponding motion equation are formulated for the high-storey structure with frame-shear wall and isolated foundation under seismic action. The lateral-torsion eoupling seismic response of the uniaxial-eccentricity base-isolated structure is then analyzed, and the seismic responses of several base-isolated structures with various eccentricity ratios are discussed. The results show that the eccentricitv ratio of the superstructure to the base-isolated layer should be reasonably adjusted in the design of a structure, and that the torsional response of the base-isolated structure can be obviously reduced only when the eccentricity ratio satisfies a certain condition.
