Abstract:

The formation process of automobile engine hood panels is investigated by means of the numerical simu-lation using a dynamic explicit FEA(Finite Element Analysis)software eta/DYNAFORM. Night simulated stam-ping models in two groups are then established to analyze the influences of the initial blank shape and the technologi-cal supplementing dimension on the formation of the engine hood panel, each using the rectangular blank model and the cutting-angle blank model. Proper blank dimension is thus obtained. The results show that the formation is greatly affected by the shape and dimension of the blank, that adjusting the dimension in a certain range can im-prove the stamping formation if the blank shape is unmeet, but can not solve the problem thoroughly, and that the cutting-angle blank, especially the one with an angle of 75°,is more suitable for the formation than the square blank because the latter may cause large size consumption.
