Hardware Design of Automobile Electric Power Steering System

Abstract:

The power condition of a motor in an automobile EPS(Electric Power Steering)system can be adjusted according to road condition and automobile condition,So that the energy consumption can be reduced and the steer-ing characteristics and driving safety can be improved.In this paper,an embedded EPS system is designed,,with a DSP(Digital Signal Processor)chip as the core of the system.By analyzing the choice of DSP,the structure and control principle of EPS,and the system circuit module,this paper further describes the process of designing the layered structure of the system hardware,the signal processing circuit of EPS,the power steering motor and the power-driven control circuit of the electromagnetic clutch. Moreover,the characteristics of the torque sensor and some data of the signal processing circuit are obtained. Experimental results indicate that the essential functions of EPS can be optimally realized with the proposed control system.
