Abstract:

Magnetic chitosan microspheres were synthesized by means of the reverse-·phase suspension cross-linking technique, with glutaraldehyde as the cross-linker and Fe3O4as the magnetic core. The morphology, particle size an d chemical structure of the prepared microspheres were then characterized using the digital optical microscope, the laser granularity meter and the PnR.an d the magnetic resonance ofthe microspheres Was investigated using the atom-absorbing spectrophotometer, the magnetic balance and the adjustable magnetic field. The results demonstrate
that the prepared magnetic chitosan microspheres are well-shaped spheres with a diameter from 50 to 200 μm,in which Fe3O4 particles disperse uniformly, and that, when the mi crospheres in an exte .rnal magnetic field are ofa dia-meter of less than 280μm,its magnetic susceptibility and sedimentation rate increase with the size.It is indicated that the prepared magnetic chitosan microspheres are of excelent magnetic resonan ce.
