Abstract: This paper presents an experimental study on the flow characteristics of the bendway on the hydraulic smooth plane by means of the advanced three dimensional acoustics Doppler current meter. Time average velocity and fluctuating intensity are measured from all aspects. The turbulent characteristics of bend flow are analyzed and a mathematical expression of the relative turbulent intensity along longitudinal direction is acquired. In addition, the distribution characters of longitudinal, lateral and vertical turbulent intensities are compared.
