Abstract

Proposed in this paper is a double-side radiating leaky-wave antenna based on composite right/left-handed(CRLH) coplanar waveguide(CPW).By analyzing the dispersion diagram of the antenna unit,a balanced property is confirmed. The designed antenna can implement backfire radiation due to the left-handed property of the CRLH structure, and,in balanced cases, the gap between left-handed and right-handed regions can be su-ppressed.Consequently,a traveling wave along the structure occurs and the antenna implements transverse radiation at the balance point with non-zero group velocity.Measured results show that the proposed antenna can offer continuous radiation almost covering backfire-to-endfire directions.
