Abstract

7022 aluminium alloy with a thickness of 10 mm was welded via the friction stir welding, and the influences of welding parameters on the microstructures and mechanical properties of the welded joint were investigated. The results show that,at a rotating speed of 400 r/min and a welding speed of 100 mm/min,the tensile strength and yield strength of the welded joint of 7022 aluminium alloy reach 615 MPa and 533 MPa,respectively, which are both greater than those of the base material, and that the microhardness of the welded joint is slightly lower than that of the base material. Moreover,it is found from the fracture surface analyses,it is found that the tensile fracture of the welded joint of 7022 aluminium alloy is ductile.
