Abstract

A modified Hummers method is adopted in the study of the graphene oxide ( GO) . Morphological and structural characterization are performed by means of scanning electron microscopy,UV-visible spectrophotometer, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction scan analyses. Meanwhile, the effects of GO addition, solution pH,contact time, solution temperature, the initial mass concentration of chlortetracycline ( CTC) and methylene blue ( MB) are investigated into the adsorption of chlortetracycline and methylene blue by GO; The adsorption kinetic equations and adsorption isotherms are fitted. The results show that the adsorption removal rate of MB by GO is much higher than that of CTC; the CTC and MB adsorption onto GO fit well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm model respectively; the maximum adsorption capacity for CTC and MB are 265. 25 mg /g and 1095. 70 mg /g at 303 K respectively; the adsorption of CTC and MB onto GO is a spontaneous endothermic reaction, and the elevated temperature is favorable for the adsorption reaction.
