Abstract

In this paper, first,a geometry parameterization of the anti-roll bar is performed.Next, the formulas of the rolling angle stiffness are deduced by means of the Moore integral method, followed by a preliminary strength verification. Then,a finite element simulation is carried out to verify the feasibility of the proposed method.Mo- reover,an optimization design of the anti-roll bar of a SUV is conducted via the proportionality coefficient method, with the rolling angle stiffness as the optimization objective. Finally,a simulation model is established in ADAMS/ Car to verify the effectiveness of the optimization through a steering wheel step input test, followed by a real car ex- periment. The results of both the simulation and the real car experiment show that good roll stability can be ob- tained at a high rolling angle stiffness of the anti-roll bar.It is thus concluded that the proposed optimization method is feasible.
