This paper deals with the first flush effects of four monitored rainfall runoff events in South China Univer-sity of Technology in Guangzhou from June,2012 to August 2012.The results show that the first flush phenomenaat different degrees exist in TSS,COD,TN,TP,TCu,Zn,total hardness,NO2-- N,NH3- N and SO42-.The analy-sis results of three rainfall events show that the first 20% of the runoff volume carries the pollution load of 7. 0% ~39. 4% for TSS,20. 4% ~56. 0% for COD,13. 8% ~35. 2% for TN and 16. 0% ~35. 2% for TP,while the first30% carries 18. 6% ~56. 1% for TSS,37. 8% ~72. 6% for COD,22. 8% ~43. 2% for TN and 24. 3% ~53. 1% forTP.Moreover,it is demonstrated that, except for a few significant correlative cases, there is no significant correla-tion or only low correlation between the first flush intensity of TSS,COD,TN as well as TP and the weather para-meters such as rainfall time, rainfall volume, average rainfall intensity, maximum rainfall intensity, appearancetime of maximum rainfall intensity and antecedent dry weather period.
