Preparation and Property of a Novel Al3+-doped Silica Gel Adsorptive Material

Abstract: A novel Al 3+ _doped silica gel adsorptive material with excellent adsorption property was pre-pared by treating ceramic fiber matrix with the aqueous solution of sodium silicate (Na 2 SiO 3 )and alu-minum salt etc ., as well as with pH value adjustment .The effects of impregnation conditions on the ad-sorptive property and surface structure of the novel material were investigated , thus obtaining the opti-mal reaction condition, that is, 26.7%(mass fraction)of Na 2 SiO 3 , 10%(mass fraction)of aluminum salt , impregnation time period of 120min , reaction temperature of 60 ℃and the pH value of the solution of 1.8.It is found that Al 3+ _doped silica gel can perfectly deposit on the surface and in the apertures of ceramic fiber , and its mesopores play a key role in adsorption.For the substitution insertion of alu-minum into the silica gel framework (Al 3+ doped), the adsorption property , heat resistance property and mechanical strength of the novel material are superior to those of silica gel .
