Abstract:

In this paper , chromium ion was introduced in the conventional ion-nitriding stove to ca盯y out the ionic bombardment of stainless steel by nitrogen and chromium ion immersion. An optical microscopy , an abrasion test device and an electrochemistry workstation were then adopted to investigate the microstructure , wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the samples in different processing conditions. The results show that the wear resistance of the stainless steel with ionic bombardment processing is 2 - 5 times that of the untreated sample , and that the bom-barded stainless steel is of a liule reduction in corrosion resistance , as compared with the original stainless steel. However , as compared with the traditional ion-nitriding stainless steel , the corrosion resistance is greatly improved.
